 Massapequa Lodge #2162 Veterans Chairman Fran Ward (VAVS Deputy) assisted New York State Elks VAVS Representative PDDER Jack Stein in delivering a donation of craft and hygiene supplies to the Long Island State Veterans Home at Stony Brook. In addition to dropping off the donations, plans were made with Michelle Cheslak, Director of Therapeutic Recreation, for upcoming onsite crafting events for the residents.

 Massapequa #2162 Veterans Chair and VAVS Deputy Representative Fran Ward delivered 25 Craft Kits, 100 DVDs and 25 CDs to the residents of Northport VA Hospital. The Craft Kits were provided by the Elks Veterans Services and the DVDs and CDs were donated by Member and PER Nancy Parente. Massapequa Elks Receive a Freedom Grant

​On October 4, 2024, members of Massapequa, NY Lodge #2162 delivered essential household items to United Veterans Beacon House. Using the $1,000 Freedom Grant they received they purchased 2 each of dishes, flatware, glasses, coffee makers, toasters,
sheets, towels and other items for use by homeless Veterans in Long Island. Beacon House provides safe housing and specialized supportive services to Veterans and Veteran families and these items will assist in setting up two comfortable and safe living environments for those in need. Massapequa Elks Receive a Gratitude Grant

The Massapequa Elks Lodge was recipient of a $3,000 gratitude grant, allocated towards purchasing essential non-food items for local community outreaches. Purchased items included diapers, baby wipes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap, dish detergent, cleaning wipes, tilex, laundry detergent, paper towels, napkins, and toilet paper. Nancy Mackey Parente, Eileen Jackson, and Margaret Motis facilitated procurement and delivery to Saint Francis de Chantal, Wantagh; Saint Martin, Amityville; Our Lady of Lourdes, Massapequa Park; Our Lady of Assumption, Copiague; and Saint Rose of Lima, Massapequa. This outreach assisted 705 families, comprising 2,890 individuals. The generosity of the Elks was met with profound gratitude from each outreach organization, emphasizing the considerable demand for these essential items.

Massapequa Elks team up with St Francis De Chantal

The Massapequa Elks Lodge members collaborated with the Saint Francis De Chantal Youth group to collect winter clothing donations. Nancy Mackey Parente and Chris Mackey collected and delivered 56 coats and hundreds of gloves, mittens, scarves, hats, and headbands to the Saint Francis de Chantal Youth Group in Wantagh. Our joint efforts benefited over 200 individuals; items were delivered to Our Lady Of Loretto Outreach, Beacon House, Prontod Outreach, and 10 different Hope For Youth group homes. We received excitement and gratitude upon delivery, recognizing our members' generosity.

On November 6, 2024 Massapequa Lodge #2162 Veterans Chairman Fran Ward, along with Co-Chair Anne Williams, delivered approximately $2,000 worth of non-perishable food items to the Nassau County Veterans Services Food Pantry in East Meadow. This location services an average of 1,000 food insecure Veterans per month. Many thanks to the Members and guests who attended our annual Halloween party and donated these items to assist our local Veterans in need.

Massapequa Elks Lodge #2162 made a charitable donation of 180 drawstring bags to Our Lady of Lourdes in Massapequa Park. The bags will serve as blessing bags for 180 families, filled with non-perishable items during the holidays. The parish outreach program assists numerous homeless families, and the bags will facilitate convenient transportation of essential items. Massapequa Elks held a Holiday Party for children with Cerebral Palsy and Autism.   Children from Little Village School and their families were invited to attend.  There were 125 people in attendance.  Every Child received a gift from Santa.  The party included lunch, cotton candy, games, dancing and a visit with santa

Nancy Mackey Parente, Eileen Jackson, and Margaret Motis facilitated procurement and delivery to Saint Francis de Chantal, Wantagh; Maria Regina, Seaford, Saint Williams Seaford Saint Martin, Amityville; Our Lady of Lourdes, Massapequa Park; Our Lady of Assumption, Copiague; and Saint Rose of Lima, Massapequa. This outreach assisted 905 families, comprising 4525 individuals. The generosity of the Elks was met with profound gratitude from each outreach organization, emphasizing the considerable demand for these essential items.

Massapequa Elks Receive a Spotlight Grant

The Massapequa Elks Lodge #2162 utilized the $2,000 Spotlight Grant to donate 400 pair of insulated winter gloves and 800 pair of Hot Hands Warmers to the Veterans participating in the November 26, 2024 Stand Down at the Freeport Armory in Freeport, New York. The gloves were individually packaged and labels were placed on each package with a 'Thank You for Your Service' message and the Elks logo and Massapequa Lodge #2162 identifier. Gloves were labeled and packed in boxes by Veterans Chair Fran Ward and Co-Chair Anne Williams (pictured), delivered to Nassau County Veterans Services by Fran Ward and Committee Member Joe Motis (pictured) and distributed with the assistance of Exalted Ruler Tom Harrington (pictured) and Kathy Harrington. Thanks to all the members of Massapequa Lodge #2162 who help make these grants possible with their ENF donations.
